about Alicia L. White
Alicia White is an award-winning social innovator known for her work as a climate change-maker, environmental activist, entrepreneur and as the founder of Project Petals and Blue SKYie, a company focused on social and environmental innovation.
With a decade of experience leading environmental equity initiatives, sustainable solutions, and implementing grassroots-based climate solutions, Alicia has empowered individuals, governments, corporations, and communities around the world to work together to create sustainable, climate-resilient, healthy environments and improve under-resourced communities globally.
Alicia’s interest in environmental and climate work was sparked when she saw the potential of an abandoned lot on her daily commute in her hometown of Queens, New York. Having witnessed the stark disparity in resources and opportunities between Queens and other boroughs, Alicia grew determined to turn her frustration into transformative action. She transformed what is now known as Railroad Park into one of NYC’s largest environmental conservation projects, now named Gwen Ifill Park. Inspired by the impact she could make, Alicia founded Project Petals, a New York City-based nonprofit that mobilizes communities to take on environmental stewardship, climate resilience, and policy change. She went on to advocate for a policy initiative for New York’s $4.20 billion Environmental Bond Act.
“The most powerful tool in creating a sustainable world is the power of people. People who are committed, determined, and ready to lead.”

The Real Truth About Climate Change
Climate change is caused by human activities, primarily the burning of fossil fuels, which increases greenhouse gas levels.
According to the United Nations, immediate action is required to reduce emissions & limit global warming to avoid catastrophic impacts.
The effects of climate change include rising global temperatures, more extreme weather events, melting ice caps, and rising sea levels.
Transitioning to renewable energy sources is essential to meet climate targets and reduce dependency on fossil fuels.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a universal call to action.
These 17 interconnected goals address the global challenges we face, including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace, and justice. The SDGs aim to create a better and more sustainable future for all, requiring the collective efforts of governments, the private sector, civil society, and individuals worldwide.
“Sustainability is not just about preserving resources; it’s about building systems that protect life and honor every living being.”
